Springfield Falcons News Release

For the second time this season, the Springfield Falcons rallied from a three-goal deficit at the XL Center in Hartford, CT to skate away with a dramatic come-from-behind win. The most recent comeback occurred on Saturday night as the Falcons scored three third period goals, with Carl Corazzini scoring the game-winner in the shootout, erasing a 3-0 deficit in the final 20 minutes of play and earning a 4-3 triumph. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk stopped all five Hartford shooters in the extra session helping improve the Falcons record to 12-11-3-1 on the season.

Tyler Spurgeon started the Springfield comeback at 9:50 of the third period when he scored his second marker of the year cutting the Falcons' deficit to 3-1. Just 11-seconds later, Bryan Lerg took a perfect pass from Ryan Potulny and one-timed a shot into a vacated Hartford net pulling Springfield to within a single goal. Potulny would convert his 14th goal on the campaign at 12:17 of the final frame tying the score at 3-3 and sending the contest to overtime.

The Falcons fell behind in the opening 20 minutes as Hartford's Tommy Pyatt scored a pair of first period goals, while Devin DiDiomete added his third marker of the year in the second period.

The middle period was a spirited frame with Ryan O'Marra and Hartford's Jared Nightingale dropping the gloves, followed by Springfield's Mathieu Roy and Hartford's Michael Sauer also collecting fighting majors.
