San Antonio Rampage News Release
ROCKFORD, ILL. (October 25, 2012) - San Antonio Rampage goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris made a season-high 42 saves, but the Silver and Black fell to the IceHogs, 2-1, in a shootout Thursday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
For the third consecutive game, the Rampage (2-2-0-1) got on the board first. Only 53 seconds into the game, Rampage forward Andre Deveaux lit the lamp for the first time this season to give the Rampage the lead. Assists were credited to rookie forwards Drew Shore and Quinton Howden, who are atop the team's scoring charts with three points each.
San Antonio allowed a season-high 17 shots in the opening frame, but Grumet-Morris held down the fort to send the Rampage into the first intermission leading, 1-0.
Rockford (2-3-0-1) tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal with 41 seconds remaining in the middle frame when Brandon Pirri picked up a rebound in the slot and fired it past Grumet-Morris, who was trying to recover after making a sprawling save moments earlier.
The two teams played a scoreless third period, with the IceHogs outshooting the Rampage 11-9 in the final frame. San Antonio had the best chance to score in overtime while on the power play, but Rockford goaltender Carter Hutton made a post-to-post save to send the game to a shootout.
The shootout was the first of the year for the Rampage, who failed to convert on an attempt, while the IceHogs scored twice in their second shootout of the season to earn the extra point.
The Rampage finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play, while Rockford was 1-for-7 with the man advantage.
The Silver and Black continue the road-trip on Saturday and will take on the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. before returning to Rockford on Sunday for a 5:05 p.m. contest against the IceHogs. Sunday's game will be featured on SiriusXM NHL Network and can be found on Sirius channel 207 and XM 92.
The Rampage return to AT&T Center Friday, Nov. 2 when they faceoff against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Individual, and season, tickets start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
