Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Friday that rookie defensemen Austin Madaisky and Will Weber have been reassigned from the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets, to its ECHL developmental team, the Evansville IceMen.
Madaisky, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, has spent the last four seasons in the WHL, totaling 113 points (29g-84a) over 238 games with the Kamloops Blazers and the Calgary Hitmen. The 20-year-old was selected by Columbus in the fifth round (124th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has yet to skate in a professional contest.
Weber played in two games with the Falcons at the end of 2011-2012 following the completion of his four-year career at Miami University (NCAA, D-I). The Gaylord, Mich. product served as the RedHawks' captain in 2011-2012 and totaled 30 points (5g-25a) in 154 collegiate games. Weber, 23, has yet to suit up in a game this season. He was taken by Columbus in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Falcons head to Providence to take on the Bruins tonight before returning to the MassMutual Center on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and while remaining home Sunday to welcome the Portland Pirates to town at 3:00 p.m. Sunday's game is the Falcons' "Halloween Hockey Night." Fans are encouraged to showcase their Halloween apparel as Falcons in-arena host Kevin Johnson will give away prizes to fans wearing the best costumes throughout the game. After the game, fans are invited to stick around and skate on the MassMutual Center ice. Fans must bring their own skates to participate. Single-game tickets to see the Falcons in 2012-2013 can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through game time on Saturday home dates, and starting four hours prior to Sunday home contests.
