IceCaps, Statoil Announce Partnership
October 26, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps are pleased to announce Statoil as an official partner for the next two seasons.
Statoil's partnership will focus on community initiatives including volunteer recognition and children's educational programs.
"We are so pleased to welcome our newest corporate partner, Statoil, to the IceCaps family," said President and Chief Executive Officer Danny Williams. "When we brought this team to St. John's, we made a commitment to the corporate community there would be tangible and meaningful benefits to partnering with us. And businesses have stepped up and come to realize the value of being associated with the St. John's IceCaps. Statoil is a tremendous corporate citizen in our community and we welcome the opportunities ahead."
The IceCaps and Statoil first partnered in March for the salute to "Heroes of the Community," an initiative designed to honour and recognize community heroes who exemplified dedication and commitment to the local community, whether through volunteering, donating or other charitable causes.
Statoil is also the founding partner of Buddy's Book Club, a summer reading program for children aimed at encouraging kids to read during the summer and track their progress. On Saturday, October 27, participants of the program are invited to attend an IceCaps practice and will have a chance to win IceCaps prizes and game experiences, including tickets to that night's game versus the Norfolk Admirals.
"At Statoil, we think it is important to contribute to the community where we do business and in this respect the IceCaps are a great partner for us," says Atle Aadland, vice president of Statoil's Newfoundland office. "Statoil is committed to making long term investments in Newfoundland and Labrador; creating jobs, investing in technology, and supporting local communities. We demonstrate our values through our open and collaborative approach as well as our community investments."
