Defenseman Chris Wideman Reassigned to Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that defenseman Chris Wideman has been reassigned by the club's National Hockey League affiliate Ottawa Senators to Binghamton from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Wideman, 22, has recorded four points (four assists) and is a plus-five through four games with the Jackals so far this season.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Wideman completed his fourth and final season of college eligibility in 2011-12 with the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Miami (Ohio) Redhawks. He played in 41 games recording four goals, 20 assists and 40 penalty minutes.

In four years with the Redhawks, Wideman recorded 95 points (12 goals, 83 assists), while registering 191 penalty minutes in 163 games.

Wideman helped Miami earn its first two trips to the Frozen Four, a national championship game appearance and its first Mason Cup (CCHA tournament title) during his four year college career. His 163 games played ranks third in school history.

Wideman was Ottawa's fourth-round selection, 100th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Binghamton Senators are in action again tomorrow night as they travel to Lewiston, Me. to take on the Portland Pirates at 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM) beginning 15 minutes before game time as Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens, hosts the Countdown to Faceoff.
