CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 12, 2013) - Despite holding the lead until the final two minutes of regulation, the San Antonio Rampage (10-14-0-2) fell to the Charlotte Checkers (10-14-0-1), 3-2, on Thursday night at Time Warner Cable Arena.

San Antonio had a 2-1 lead with just over a minute to play, but the Checkers rallied and notched two goals to steal the victory from the Rampage. The Silver and Black cashed in twice with the man advantage (2-for-3), but were equaled by the Checkers, who also notched a pair of power-play goals (2-for-7).

Greg Rallo and Jed Ortmeyer each had a goal and an assist, while Drew Shore had two helpers en route to being named the Third Star of the Game.

Rampage goaltender Michael Houser stopped 24-of-27 shots after being recalled from Cincinnati (ECHL) on Thursday afternoon. The game marked his third in as many days, as he posted a loss on Wednesday and a win on Thursday with Cincinnati. Houser is 4-2-0 through his first six AHL starts this season.

The Rampage outshot the Checkers, 27-26, with all but three players registering at least one shot on goal. Bobby Butler led all Rampage players with five shots on net.

For the second-straight game against the Rampage, the Checkers game-winning goal came on the power play. San Antonio has surrendered 11 power-play goals in the last five games (11-for-26).

The Rampage got off to a quick start, drawing a holding penalty in the first 10 seconds of the game. With just a few seconds left on the man advantage, Shore fed a pass from behind the net to Rallo, who beat Charlotte goaltender John Muse to give the Rampage an early lead at 2:04 of the first period.

Just under two minutes later, the Checkers tied it up with a power-play goal of their own. Zach Boychuk picked up the puck from Brett Sutter and quickly buried it past Houser from the slot at 3:53.

Neither team was able to cash in during the second period and the clubs went into the final frame tied, 1-1.

San Antonio wasted no time in finding their offense in the third period. Just 18 seconds into a man advantage, Ortmeyer was able to locate the puck through a crowd and snuck it past Muse to give the Rampage a 2-1 lead at 2:19 of the third period.

However, the lead wasn't able to hold up down the stretch. Keegan Lowe netted the game-tying goal at 18:50 of the third to tie it up at 2-2. The Checkers were awarded a power-play opportunity with 26 seconds remaining in the third period and Chris Terry buried the game-winner with only 7.3 seconds left on the clock.

San Antonio is winless in their last six games (0-5-0-2), but return to AT&T Center for a pair of games this weekend where the club has earned points in seven of their last eight games (6-1-0-1).

First up on Saturday night will be the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 p.m. at AT&T Center in the club's ninth-annual Teddy Bear Toss Night. Fans who bring a teddy bear to the game are eligible to purchase a ticket for 25 percent off at the AT&T Center Box Office on Saturday.
