Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Tux, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins mascot, was recently honored by GameOps.com in the website's Best of 2013 year-end awards. Tux received Honorable Mention in the Best Mascot category, ranking just behind winner Benny the Bull from the National Basketball Association's Chicago Bulls.

According to GameOps.com, Tux "...earned an honorable mention award for his passionate dedication to the craft...Tux also uses a clever audio-enhancement that makes his character chirp like a penguin, helping him to connect and communicate in an authentic and comical way that is truly unique."

A fixture in northeast Pennsylvania, Tux routinely makes more than 200 appearances every year at community, charity and private functions, as well as performing at all Penguins home games.

Tux and his human persona, Chad Spencer, can currently be seen on the Hulu Plus original documentary, "Behind the Mask," which chronicles the lives of four mascots at different stages of their professional careers.
