
Florida Panthers Recall Goaltender Jacob Markstrom from Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (December 12, 2013) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled goaltender Jacob Markstrom on loan from the Rampage. In conjunction, the Rampage have recalled goaltender Michael Houser from the club's ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Markstrom, 23, started the season with the Panthers and posted a 1-5-3 mark with a 3.36 goals against average and a 0.877 save percentage. The Swedish netminder was loaned to the Rampage on Nov. 10 and has made 10 starts since then, owning a 4-5-1 record. Markstrom is currently 11th in the AHL in save percentage (0.924) and 19th in the league in goals-against average (2.46). Last season, Markstrom had a 16-15-2 record with a 2.65 goals-against average and a 0.920 save percentage for the Rampage before being recalled to the Panthers in mid-February for the remainder of the season. In all, Markstrom owns an 11-24-5 record in the NHL and a 53-52-6 mark in the AHL. The 6-foot-6, 196-pound netminder was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the second round (31st overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Houser, 21, began the season with the Rampage and won four of his first five starts (4-1-0) at the AHL level, allowing a combined 11 goals for a 2.17 goals-against average and a 0.917 save percentage. The second-year pro returned to Cincinnati on Nov. 13 and has posted impressive numbers, sitting in the top-10 in the ECHL in goals-against average (1.98) and save percentage (0.934). Houser played the entirety of the 2012-13 season in Cincinnati where posted a 17-10-2 record, along with a 2.55 goals-against average and a 0.917 save percentage to help lead the Cyclones to the North Division crown in his first professional season.
The Rampage conclude a four-game road trip tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m. CST against the Charlotte Checkers. The Silver and Black return to the AT&T Center on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. for the team's ninth annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, presented by H-E-B. Fans who bring a teddy bear to the game are eligible to purchase a ticket for 25 percent off at the AT&T Center Box Office on Saturday.
