Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers utilized some late-inning heroics to sneak away with 3-2 walk-off win over Sacramento at Cheney Stadium on Sunday.

With the game tied at 2-2 and the bases loaded with one out, Dustin Ackley delivered a pinch-hit sacrifice fly that scored David Winfree from third and secured the victory for the Rainiers. Winfree and Adam Moore started off the inning with back-to-back singles followed by a walk from Mike Wilson that put three men aboard for Ackley in the ninth.

The River Cats put together a rally of their own to tie the game up at two runs apiece earlier in the outing. Outfielder Travis Buck hit a triple that drove in third baseman Dam Heether in the top of the eighth that sent the game into gridlock.

Catcher Adam Moore put together the Tacoma lineup's strongest performance of the afternoon after going 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI, including a two-run home run in the sixth that erased a 1-0 Sacramento lead. Third baseman Adam Heether came up the biggest for the River Cats in the loss, notching two hits and driving in one run.

Tacoma reliever Scott Patterson picked up his second win of the season after tossing a scoreless inning in the ninth with one walk and one strikeout. Starter Ian Snell gave up one run on four hits over six innings of work with four punchouts in a no decision.

River Cats reliever Travis Banwart was responsible for three Rainiers runs on three hits over 2.2 innings in the loss. Starter Brett Anderson tossed 5.1 scoreless innings for Sacramento with one walk and nine strikeouts.

The Rainiers look to clinch the series win when they return to Cheney Stadium on Monday at 11:30am to host Sacramento for the final time this season. Left-hander Ryan Feierabend (3-3, 5.25) is slated to get the start for Tacoma, with right-hander Tyson Ross going to the mound for the River Cats.
