Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis used a ninth inning rally to comeback and beat Oklahoma City 7-6 Sunday night at AutoZone Park.
With the score tied 7-7 with two outs Bryan Anderson gave the Redbirds their first lead of the night, ripping a single into the right field corner to score a sliding Joe Mather all the way from first. Anderson's game-winning hit was the final piece to erase an earlier six-run deficit. Memphis trailed 6-0 going into the bottom of the fifth but scored two runs in the fifth on Allen Craig's double, three more runs in the sixth on Ruben Gotay's three-run homer before finally tying the game in the eighth on Aaron Luna's first Triple-A home run, a solo shot into the 'Birds bullpen. Former Mississippi State Bulldog Mitch Moreland led the RedHawks going 2-for-4 with a home run.
Josh Kinney picked up the win for Memphis tossing a scoreless ninth inning. Cody Eppley was pegged with the loss allowing two runs over the final two innings. Memphis starter Lance Lynn gave up six runs on eight hits over five innings with eight strikeouts.
The 'Birds will bring the brooms tomorrow night in search of a sweep of Oklahoma City. Two major league rehabbing pitchers will start with Memphis sending St. Louis' Kyle Lohse to the hill to face Texas' Rich Harden for the RedHawks.
