Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Colorado Springs, CO - The Tacoma Rainiers bolted back from an early deficit and then kept on running in an 18-13 win over Colorado Springs in the club's series finale with the Sky Sox in front of 6,056 fans at Security Service Field on Wednesday night.

Tacoma, following a nearly one-hour rain delay, watched as the Sky Sox took a commanding lead with seven runs on seven hits in the first inning. First baseman Mike Jacobs got things going with an RBI-single, but Matt Macri dealt the most damage with a three-run double that helped put Tacoma down 7-0.

The Rainiers did not wait long to answer back and tied the game with seven runs on six hits in the second inning. Mike Wilson and Alex Liddi both hit home runs, Sean Kazmar recorded a two-run double and catcher Ralph Henriquez singled in a score to square the game away at seven-all.

After falling behind 8-7 heading into the third inning, Tacoma took the lead with two runs in the top of the frame and never looked back. The Rainiers set the pace with 11runs on 12 hits over the third through the seventh innings to secure a series win over the Sky Sox.

Tacoma's 18 combined hits fell four shy of tying a season high and the club's 18 runs marked the fourth time the Rainiers have scored at least that many in a game this season. The team's six home runs equaled the most they have hit in any outing in 2011, with Wilson and Liddi each going deep twice. Liddi ended the night collecting three hits and driving in four runs.

Starter Nate Robertson (3-2) picked up the win for the Rainiers despite having a tough outing. The left-hander surrendered a season-high 10 runs, nine earned, on 14 hits over five innings with two walks.

The Rainiers (43-44) return to Cheney Stadium on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. to begin a four-game series with Reno. Right-hander Charlie Haeger (2-2, 8.85) is scheduled to start for Tacoma in the series opener against Aces right-hander Gaby Hernandez (2-2, 9.00). The game will be broadcast live on South Sound Sports 850-AM and streamed online at www.tacomarainiers.com.
