Tucson pitching held the best offense in the PCL to just four hits Wednesday, as the Padres beat Reno 6-3. Jeremy Hefner pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs, and Scott Munter, Evan Scribner and Brad Brach each pitched scoreless innings to close the game. The victory was yet another comeback win for the T-Pads, who trailed 3-0 before scoring six unanswered runs.

James Darnell and Aaron Cunningham hit back-to-back home runs to begin the bottom of the fourth, and Jeremy Hefner laid down an RBI bunt on a squeeze play later in the inning to score Jarrett Hoffpauir. It was the second set of back-to-back home runs for the Padres this season and the first since Anthony Rizzo and Steve Tolleson on June 3 in Las Vegas. The Padres had three hits in a three-run sixth inning, including an RBI triple by Everth Cabrera.

The Padres have now won nine of their last 10 games and they picked up another game in the standings Wednesday, as first place Sacramento lost its ninth straight game. The Padres are 43-43, in third place, seven games out of first place. Kyle Blanks hit a double in the fifth inning, extending his hitting streak to 22 games.
