Greg Reynolds pitched 7.0 shutout innings and Eliezer Alfonzo hit his 12th home run of the season as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Salt Lake Bees 2-1 in front of 2,590 fans at Security Service Field.

Alfonzo broke up a scoreless game with a solo home run to give the Sox a 1-0 lead in the second off of Bees starter Bear Bay (6-5, 4.76). In the fifth, Willy Taveras followed a Mike Paulk single with his third triple of the season to give the Sox a 2-0 lead.

Bay was dominant at times allowing just four hits in 7.0 innings while striking out six in the losing effort. Reynolds (5-2, 6.08) was able to match him pitch for pitch, allowing seven hits and striking out seven in 7.0 sharp innings.

Things became interesting in the ninth as Sox All-Star closer came on looking for his 12th save of the season. The first two batters reached and following a sacrifice bunt and a walk, the bases were loaded with one out. An RBI groundout by Tyson Auer scored the only Bees run of the game as Miller recovered to strikeout Reggie Willits to end the game.

With the win the Sox improve to 38-49 while Salt Lake falls to 39-49.

The Sox will look to make it two-straight against the Bees tomorrow as Esmil Rogers (0-1, 5.19) takes the hill in a rehab assignment against Jerome Williams (3-0, 5.85). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM MT.
