July 7, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release
Tacoma, WA - Former University of Oregon Duck and current Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart will be appearing at Cheney Stadium on Thursday, July 8 to throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch before the Rainiers take on the Fresno Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m.
The Washington native will be joined by campers from the Old Spice Jonathan Stewart Football Camp, which is being held at South Sound Stadium in Lacey on July 7th and 8th. The camp offers boys and girls ages 7 to 14 expert instructions highlighting the finer points of the game of football and beyond.
Stewart is joined at this year's camp by Panthers teammates DeAngelo Williams, Kenny Moore and Dante Rosario. Former University of Oregon teammates Dennis Dixon and Jairus Byrd will also be on hand, along with Puyallup-native and former Washington State University receiver Brandon Gibson.
Following three impressive years with the Ducks, Stewart's on-field success has carried over into the NFL. A first round pick by the Panthers in 2008, the 23-year-old concluded his second year in professional football ranked ninth in the league with 1,133 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.
