River Cats Top Aces, 10-7
July 7, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- Mark Hallberg recorded his first four-hit game of the season for the Aces, but Reno fell 10-7 to the Sacramento River Cats in the series finale Wednesday afternoon at Aces Ballpark.
Reno exploded for seven runs over the first three innings, but Sacramento starter John Halama settled down after that to hold the Aces offense in check. The Aces knocked Halama around for five runs on six hits in the third inning alone, capped by a two-run single by Hallberg, giving the Aces a 7-4 lead. Sacramento would come back with two in the fourth and four more in the seventh, however, handing the Aces their fourth-straight defeat.
Aces starter Wes Roemer took a no decision, tossing 4.2 innings and allowing five earned runs. Luis Ayala (1-9) took the loss after surrendering four earned runs in 1.2 innings of relief.
Despite the rough start, John Halama (4-1) earned the win for the River Cats, giving up all seven Aces runs and scattering 12 hits in seven innings of work. Jamey Wright pitched the ninth for his first save of the season.
In addition to Hallberg's four-hit game, Doug Deeds added four hits of his own. Brandon Allen chipped in with his 11th home run of the season, adding a double, scoring twice and driving in two runs.
The Aces head out on the road Thursday for a four-game set in Colorado Springs. The series opener will pit Reno RHP Bryan Augenstein (5-7, 6.37 ERA) against Sky Sox LHP Josh Muecke (2-4, 6.03 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard in Reno on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM or online at RenoAces.com.
The Aces return home Thursday, July 15, for a four-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers. Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
