FRESNO, Calif. - A late barrage of home runs sent the Tacoma Rainiers (12-11) to an 11-5 loss to the Fresno Grizzlies (16-8) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Chukchansi Park.

The Rainiers offense collected 10 base hits and drew 10 walks but stranded 13 runners on base. All five of Tacoma's runs came in the fifth inning on a solo home run from first baseman Daniel Vogelbach and a grand slam from shortstop Zach Vincej.

Both Vogelbach (3x5, R, HR, RBI) and Vincej (3x5, R, HR, 4 RBI) finished the game with three hits, while right fielder Cameron Perkins reached base five times after going 2-for-2 with three walks.

Vincej's grand slam gave the Rainiers a brief 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth before Fresno responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead. The Grizzlies would go on to score three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth on a pair of home runs to skate away with the 11-5 victory.

Tacoma starting pitcher Rob Whalen (3-1) took his first loss of the year after allowing six runs on 10 hits over 5.0 innings of work. He issued two walks and struck out four.

Right-hander Tyler Jackson pitched the final 3.0 innings for the Rainiers and surrendered five runs on four hits (two home runs) while walking two and striking out two.

The Rainiers return home to Cheney Stadium on Monday night to begin a quick four-game homestand against the Albuquerque Isotopes. Tacoma right-hander Max Povse (1-3, 8.31) will take on Albuquerque southpaw Sam Howard (1-3, 5.68). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT.
