
Sky Sox Take Series with 7-3 Win

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Colorado Springs scored 2-out runs in 4 of the first 5 innings, and the Sky Sox cruised to a 7-3 victory over Omaha in the series rubber-match on Sunday afternoon at Security Service field.
Colorado Springs scored first yet again, as Mauricio Dubon doubled and Jacob Nottingham singled against Chasers spot-starter Seth Maness (L, 0-1).
The Sky Sox plated another in the bottom of the 2nd; Christian Bethancourt doubled, and with 2 out, Kyle Wren doubled him home. In the last of the 3rd, Jacob Nottingham homered to left field, stretching the lead to 3-0.
It became a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 5th. Nate Orf singled, went to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a single by Ji-Man Choi.
Maness pitched 4.2 innings for the Storm Chasers in his first start of the season. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 strikeouts and no walks.
Omaha cracked the scoreboard in the top of the 6th with a 2-out rally of their own; Hunter Dozier singled, and Ryan O'Hearn doubled him in to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Bubba Derby (W, 1-0) was replaced after 5.2 innings for the Sky Sox; he was charged with 1 run, 4 hits, and 2 walks. He struck out 6.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Sky Sox padded their lead against Wily Peralta . Keon Broxton walked, Kyle Wren doubled (scoring Broxton), and Nate Orf singled (scoring Wren). Later in the inning, Brett Phillips doubled home Orf, making it 7-1.
The Chasers trimmed that lead in the top of the 8th; back-to-back doubles from Ramon Torres and Jack Lopez scored one run, and after Torres went to 3rd on a single by Hunter Dozier, Billy Burns knocked in Torres with a sacrifice fly. It was 7-3.
Josh Staumont recorded 5 strikeouts in relief over the 7th and 8th innings, but the Chasers couldn't rally further against the Sky Sox bullpen. Rhadames Liz ended the game by recording the final 3 outs, sending Colorado Springs to a series victory in Omaha's penultimate visit to Security Service Field.
The Storm Chasers (8-15) will continue their road trip by beginning a new series against the Iowa Cubs tomorrow evening at 6:38 Central time. RHP Andres Machado (0-2, 9.45) will pitch for Omaha, while RHP Adbert Adolay (1-0, 3.60) will throw for Iowa.
