Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Storm Chasers starter Jonathan Dziedzic fired seven quality innings, however Colorado Springs reliever Aaron Brooks kept Omaha's bats quiet with three-plus shutout frames after the Sky Sox scored three early runs in a 3-2 victory on Saturday evening at Security Service Field in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Dziedzic (7.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) set down 14 of the final 15 batters he faced, ultimately suffering the loss despite a quality outing after yielding three unearned runs on five hits. Brooks (3.1 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 K) earned the victory with three-plus scoreless innings of work, with Mike Zagurski (0.1 IP, 1 K), Erik Davis (0.1 IP) and Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB) completing the final 1.2 frames. Zagurski and Davis each received holds, while Lopez notched his fourth save of the year.

The Sky Sox struck with all three of their tallies in the last of the second courtesy of 3B Andres Blanco 's sacrifice fly and Nate Orf 's two-run single. Omaha followed with a run in the third when 3B Hunter Dozier smashed a double to right. Storm Chasers LF Billy Burns later lofted a sacrifice fly to cut the margin to one in the ninth, however Colorado Springs would hold on to secure the one-run triumph. Saturday night marked the 12th time in 22 total games this season Omaha has played in a one-run contest, the most of any Triple-A squad.

Dozier (2-3, 2B, RBI) and 2B Ramon Torres (2-4, R) each posted multi-hit efforts for the Storm Chasers, while SS Jack Lopez clubbed a fourth-inning double to extend his hit streak to a team-best eight games. C Jacob Nottingham (2-3, R) was the only Colorado Springs batter with two knocks.

The two teams are set to complete their five-game series with a rubber match on Sunday afternoon. The Storm Chasers' starter has not yet been announced, while the Sky Sox are anticipated to send RHP Bubba Derby (0-0, 2.29) to the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.

Omaha returns to Werner Park for an eight-game homestand on Friday, May 4. First pitch against the New Orleans Baby Cakes that evening is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.

Tickets are still available for that game and all remaining Storm Chasers home dates in 2018, and may be purchased at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets as well as by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
