Dodgers Sweep Series to Improve to 12-0 in OKC

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored five unanswered runs to overcome an early three-run deficit on the way to a 5-3 win against the Iowa Cubs Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Dodgers improved to 12-0 in Oklahoma City to begin the season, marking the team's best home start ever and just the fourth time in the stadium's history OKC has compiled a home win streak of nine or more games.

Oklahoma City improved to 17-4 overall on the season for the team's best start through 21 games since rejoining the PCL in 1998.

With Sunday's win, the Dodgers swept Iowa in the five-game series between the teams for Oklahoma City's second-ever five-game series sweep and first since Aug. 16-20, 2013 against Albuquerque.

Iowa built an early 3-0 lead through two innings.

The I-Cubs (4-17) scored the first run of the day on a RBI single by Taylor Davis in the first inning. A two-run homer to center field by Iowa's Ryan Court extended the I-Cubs to a 3-0 advantage in the second inning.

The Dodgers have now trailed at some point in seven of their last nine games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, but have come back to win.

Oklahoma City's Sunday comeback started in the third inning.

Breyvic Valera homered over the tall wall in right field to drive in OKC's first two runs of the game in the third inning. The homer was his second of the season and his second in the series against Iowa.

Cael Brockmeyer led off the fifth inning with a single before pinch hitter Alex Burg doubled down the left field line to bring him home to tie the game, 3-3. Brockmeyer went on to finish the day 3-for-3 with two runs scored to extend his hitting streak to six games.

Valera's RBI knock into right field later in the inning put the Dodgers in front, 4-3. He finished the day with a season-high three RBI.

The Dodgers added a run on a bloop RBI single by Alex Burg in the sixth inning to extend to a 5-3 lead.

Iowa went on to load the bases with one out while trailing by two runs in the top of the ninth inning. Dodgers pitcher Brian Schlitter then got Iowa's Jacob Hannemann to strike out and got Court to hit into a game-ending double play for his fifth save of the season.

Dodgers lefty Manny Bañuelos (3-0) made his fifth start of the season and picked up his third win, allowing a season-high three runs and seven hits over 5.0 innings. He did not issue a walk and recorded six strikeouts.

Iowa starting pitcher Alec Mills (0-4) was charged with the loss, allowing four runs and seven hits over 50 innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

Oklahoma City outhit Iowa, 11-9, and held its opponent to three runs or less for the ninth straight game.

The Dodgers next travel to Memphis to open a four-game series against the Redbirds at 6:35 p.m. Monday at AutoZone Park.
