The score remained 2-1 in favor of Lehigh Valley until Scranton/Wilkes-Barre batted through the order in the eighth. Elijah Dunham started things off with a walk. Oswald Peraza's double into left field sent home Dunham to tie the game at two. An error allowed Jamie Westbrook to reach and a double from Willie Calhoun put two in scoring position. Bastidas was intentionally walked to load the bases. Then, Hermosillo was hit by a pitch for the second time in the contest, which sent in Westbrook giving SWB a 4-2 lead.

Jordan Walker tossed two and a third frames letting up one run on four hits. He left the seventh inning with the bases loaded, but teammate Jeff Hoffman (L, 0-1) stranded his runners to limit the damage. Hoffman struggled through the eighth and allowed two runs before being pulled with a runner on. Trey Cobb let that inherited runner scored, but after loading the bases stranded three of his own.
