Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

Gary, IN- The Gary SouthShore RailCats fell in a season-long 15-inning game to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. The RailCats (9-10) scored in the ninth to force extras, and then were unable to scrape across a run in extras.

Both pitching staffs had their best stuff tonight. RailCats starter Karl Triana, who threw a no-hitter in his last start, went 6.0 innings giving up two runs but they were both unearned. He only allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five.

RedHawk starting pitcher Jose Almarante was equally impressive. The right-hander looked shaky early on but only allowed one run on four hits. He struck out four batters in 6.0 innings.

Cameron Newell had both RBIs for the Cats, who scored in the first and ninth innings. He doubled in the first and had a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Brian Humphries went 3-6 and had the game-winning RBI for the RedHawks. The first baseman scored their first run of the game in the fifth and hit an RBI double ten innings later.

The RailCats and the RedHawks will battle again tomorrow at the Steel Yard. You can catch the action starting with the Mansard's Pre-Game Show at 6:40 on 95.9 WEFM and online at railcatsbaseball.com.
