LINCOLN - Lindsey Caughel dealt again and Curt Smith and Christian Ibarra each hit impressive homers as the Saltdogs (10-9) beat the Sioux Falls Canaries (9-10) 3-1 in front of 2,458 fans at Haymarket Park Tuesday night.
Caughel (3-1) pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven and walking one to earn the win.
Smith crushed a tape-measure solo home run to left with two outs in the first to open the game's scoring.
Ibarra's home run, his fifth, was sent over the 403-foot sign left of center field to lead off the fifth, making it 3-1.
Stephen Shackleford worked a perfect eighth in his 'Dogs debut and Evan Reed pitched a scoreless ninth book his fourth save.
Ibarra finished 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. Brandon Jacobs went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run.
