GARY, IN - AJ Quintero signed with the Gary SouthShore RailCats today to begin his third stint with the club. The right-hander previously pitched for the team in 2014 and twice in 2015. RHP Travis McGee was placed on the disabled list.
Quintero participated in spring training with the RailCats but was not signed to a contract. The Shaumburg Boomers picked him up and used him in one game. Quintero went 2.1 innings on June 3rd against River City Rascals giving up one unearned run on one hit while striking out three.
In his two stints with the RailCats in 2015, Quintero was 1-5 while throwing 43.0 innings with 45 strikeouts. He had a 7.74 ERA. He pitched in five games in 2014 and posted a 3.18 ERA. Quintero pitched at Cal-State Monterey in college.
McGee threw two innings yesterday and was charged with the loss in a 15-inning game. He is 0-5 with a 9.44 ERA on the season.
2016 marks the 15th season of RailCats Baseball in Northwest Indiana.
