WICHITA, Kansas - The Gary SouthShore RailCats fell out of first place for the first time since June 21 as the Wichita Wingnuts registered a 7-2 win on Sunday to sweep the series.
For the first time in the series, the RailCats were able to open the scoring, plating a run in the top of the second to enjoy a momentary 1-0 advantage. Cristian Guerrero led off by drawing a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Mike Rohde. Mitch Einertson homered for the second consecutive night, driving a two-run homer over the wall in left-center in the bottom of the inning to give Wichita a 2-1 advantage.
Guerrero tied the game with his 12th homer of the season in the top of the fourth, drilling a 2-0 pitch from Junior Guerra over the wall in left. The Wingnuts answered again in the bottom of the inning, touching RailCat starter Scott Shaw for three runs to open a 5-2 lead.
