
T-Bones Offense Overwhelms Sox 22-4

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Sox got an unfortunately memorable night against the Kansas City T-Bones as a ten-run first inning led to the Sox defeat by the score of 22-4 at the Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium in front of 2,251 fans.
Sox starter Ryan Mitchell (5-7) got the loss, retiring only one batter and allowing seven first inning runs. T-Bones starter Devin Anderson (7-7) got the win, allowing four runs off seven hits in five innings of work.
Kansas City wasted no time in taking the lead, as 13 batters came to the plate in the first inning for a 10-0 lead. The T-Bones added two more runs each in the second and third innings for a 14-0 advantage.
After another Kansas City run in the fourth, the Sox got their first run in the fourth. Lee Cruz stepped up and powered the first pitch he saw over the center field for his 17th homerun of the season.
Amarillo reliever Corey Bass kept the T-Bones off the board in the fifth, while the Sox scored again in the fifth. Kevin Butler led off with a single and went to third on a Harrison Kain double. With two runners in scoring position, Adam De La Garza doubled to score both runners. Jason White followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 15-4.
The T-Bones would not be stopped. After a single sixth inning run, they scored six runs off seven hits in the seventh inning for a 22-4 advantage.
Infielder Van Pope finished off the T-Bones in the eighth and ninth, while the Sox couldn't score additionally to fall by the score of 22-4.
With the loss, the Sox fall to 41-52 while the T-Bones improve to 43-49. Tuesday, Amarillo will travel to Wichita to take on the Wingnuts for the opening game of a three-game set at 7:05pm. The game can be heard by visiting www.wichitawingnuts.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
