T-Bones Throttle Amarillo in 22-4 Victory

AMARILLO, Tex. - A 10-run first inning was just the beginning for the Kansas City T-Bones (43-49) on Sunday night as they coasted to a 22-4 thrashing of the Amarillo Sox (41-52) at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium in Amarillo, TX.
Kansas City chased starter Ryan Mitchell (5-7) from the contest with a 10-run first inning, scoring seven times off the right-hander in just one-third of an inning. After a three-run double from Peter Barrows, Jeff Hulett connected for a two-run home run to end Mitchell's night. Jose Duran later added a three-run blast against reliever Sean Keeler to cap off the frame.
Mitchell was charged with seven runs on five hits in the loss. Duran drove in four of the 10 first-inning runs with a single and a home run. Keanon Simon also collected two hits in the frame, a triple and a single.
Kala Ka'aihue opened a two-run second inning with a solo home run and connected again in the third, this time for a two-run shot, to make the score 14-0. He finished three-for-seven with three RBI in the contest.
Devin Anderson (7-7) held Amarillo scoreless until surrendering a solo home run to Lee Cruz in the bottom of the fourth. The Sox plated three more runs against the left-hander on four hits in the fifth. Anderson surrendered four runs on seven hits over five innings in the victory.
Martin Dewald threw two perfect innings in relief of Anderson. Ben Baker added a scoreless eighth and Kyle Dahman a scoreless ninth to close out the game for Kansas City.
Jim Fasano hit the T-Bones fifth home run of the game in a six-run seventh as the T-Bones extended their lead to 22-4. Fasano collected two hits and drove in two runs in the inning.
The T-Bones set a single-game team record with 27 hits in the contest. They fell two runs shy of the single-game team record for runs. Each of Kansas City's nine batters collected at least one hit and scored at least one run while eight of the nine drove in at least one run. Seven of the nine hitters posted at least three hits each with Simon finishing five-for-seven to lead the way. Duran drove in five runs to lead the offense in that category.
