Rafters Try to Gain Ground in Day Game with Mallards

Madison, Wis. - After their game against the Green Bay Booyah was postponed Saturday, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (10-8) open a two-game series against the division-leading Madison Mallards (14-5) Sunday afternoon.

The Rafters have won six of their last seven games and currently hold the second-lowest team ERA in the Northwoods League. Richie Schiekofer leads the league in batting average and Jake Dunham is tied for the most RBIs in the league.

Nathan Hemmerling is projected to start for Wisconsin Rapids, with a 1.63 ERA. He has a 1-1 record through three starts and notched four strikeouts through 11 innings. Quinn Gudaitis will likely start for Madison. The righty has a 4.15 ERA and a 2-1 record, with his lone loss coming against the Rafters on June 10.

Wisconsin Rapids returns to Witter Field Monday to take on the Mallards at 7:05 p.m. on Pie Night at the ballpark, featuring "The Great Witter Field Pie Baking Contest."
