La Crosse Loggers News Release

WILLMAR, Minn. - The La Crosse Loggers scored in just one inning on Saturday night, but that plus good pitching was enough to hold off the Willmar Stingers for a 3-1 win at Bill Taunton Stadium, earning a split in the series after falling 14-4 on Friday night. The win evens the Loggers' record at 10-10, and concludes an eight-game road trip in which the Lumbermen were victorious in five of the eight away contests.

Adam Christianson (Illinois Central) plated two runners with an RBI single in the fourth inning, and Ryan Holgate (Arizona) came in to score on a fielder's choice to give the Loggers a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Stingers (13-7) scored once in the bottom of the fourth, but Zach Pronschinske (UW-La Crosse) got a flyout and a caught stealing to end the Stingers' threat. Pronschinske earned the win for La Crosse, allowing four hits and just the one run over six innings pitched. Jack Delmore (California) pitched 2.2 innings in relief, before giving way to Jared Freilich (Penn State), who recorded the final out of the game and earned the save for the Loggers.

Brett Hawkins (Young Harris) finished with two hits in three at-bats, including a double, to raise his season average to .385. He also had three hits in Friday night's contest against Willmar.

La Crosse will play five home games over the next six days, starting with a 5:05 pm first pitch against the Eau Claire Express on Sunday.
