Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The second half did not start quite as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (12-24, 0-1) had planned as they lost last night 4-3 to the Wisconsin Woodchucks (19-16, 1-0) at Athletic Park in Wausau. The Rafters look to get on the right track tonight as they face those same Woodchucks at Witter Field for the start of an eight game home stand.
The Rafters will be facing Wisconsin right handed pitcher Parker Dunshee (Wake Forest, 1-1) who will be making his fifth start of the season for the Woodchucks. Dunshee has an ERA of 5.22 and is coming off a no decision in his last outing against the Kalamazoo Growlers where he only went four and one third innings and gave up four runs on six hits.
The offense for the Rafters had a rough night with men on base, as they left 12 men stranded. One of the bright spots from last night's game was Tyler Servais (Princeton) who went three for three with a double and drove in a run for the Rafters as well. Servais looks to only get better as the second half goes on as he adjusts to the play of the Northwoods League.
Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) also had a good game last night as he went two for three with a run batted in and drew two walks. Domingues now has a batting average of .361 and an on base percentage of .486 which is good for second in the Northwoods League. Domingues will be leading the charge for the Rafters tonight as they look to cash in on their opportunities and find that offensive groove that they had at the end of the first half.
First pitch for the game tonight is at 7:05pm which means the gates to historic Witter Field open at 6:05pm. There will be a lighted baton giveaway for tonight's game presented by Marshfield Clinic and after the game Marshfield Clinic will then be presenting post game fireworks in honor of the fourth of July.
