Madison, WI - The Madison Mallards (2-0, 20-15) took down the Kalamazoo Growlers (0-2, 13-24) tonight at the "Duck Pond," scoring four runs in the fourth inning and adding two in the seventh to preside over the Growlers by a score of 6-3.

The Mallards runs in the fourth came on a two RBI single off the bat of right fielder Connor Marabell (Jacksonville) and two from designated hitter Austin Barr (Stanford) on a two run home run earlier in the inning.

Third baseman Tony Butler (Virginia) would add two insurance runs in the seventh, singling to score center fielder Alex Bacon (North Florida) and left fielder Tyler Allen (Virginia) to go up 6-3.

Closer Tim Black came on in the eighth inning with one out and retired all five batters he faced to receive his tenth save of the year. Black is tied for the Northwoods League lead in saves after his performance tonight.

Mallards starter Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State) tossed five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out three in the win to move to 1-0 on the year.
