
Bullfrogs Look to Chop Down Loggers on Thursday

La Crosse, Wis. - Following a loss on Wednesday night, the Green Bay Bullfrogs (17-19, 0-1 Second Half) will look to take game two of a two-game series with the La Crosse Loggers (22-14, 1-0 Second Half) on Thursday night.
On Wednesday night in La Crosse, the Loggers received a strong pitching performance from Ty Provencher. Provencher allowed just two hits to the Bullfrogs while Green Bay only managed four hits against La Crosse for the game. Matt Beaty (Belmont) extended his hitting streak to six games with a single on Wednesday.
Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State) will get the start on the mound for the Bullfrogs on Thursday night. Ellenbest has appeared in five games (four starts) for Green Bay and holds a 1-2 record with a 5.14 ERA in twenty-one innings of work. The six-foot-four freshman's win on the season came on June 1st at La Crosse. In that start, Ellenbest threw five and one-third innings, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out five. Ellenbest's most recent start came on June 27th at home against Madison, when he earned a no decision after tossing six innings, giving up only one run on seven hits.
Blake Stevens (Birmingham-Southern) will make his first appearance of the season with the Loggers on Thursday. For Birmingham-Southern this past season, Stevens started twelve games and owned an 8-2 record with a 1.06 ERA. In eighty-five innings, Stevens struck out seventy-seven batters and walked just twelve.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Copeland Park in La Crosse.
