PRINCE GEORGE, BC - Brad Morrison's goal just over a minute into overtime kept the Everett Silvertips from sweeping this week's four-game road trip in a 4-3 Prince George Cougars win Saturday night at the CN Centre. Everett gains one point with the overtime loss, putting their record at 6-1-2-0 for 14 points through nine games this season.

Jujhar Khaira, Kohl Bauml and Carson Stadnyk all scored for the Silvertips, who held leads of 2-0 and 3-2 before Prince George managed to tie the score each time. Daniel Cotton (1-0-1-0) turned in a strong effort with 38 saves as the Silvertips were outshot 41-29 on the night.

The Silvertips started strong in the opening period, generating a number of close calls before scoring first at 14:55. Tyler Sandhu took a lead pass from Mirco Mueller and raced into the zone on the play before dropping a pass to Jujhar Khaira, who lifted the puck into the top corner from close range for his third goal of the year. Despite being shorthanded less than 90 seconds later, Everett went up 2-0 when Kohl Bauml stole a pass in the Cougars' zone and quickly snapped a shot over the right shoulder of goaltender Ty Edmonds. Prince George cut into the deficit later in the same powerplay however, with Chase Witala stepping out from along the goal line and beating Daniel Cotton with a nice shot inside the far post that made it 2-1 after one.

The Cougars owned the early portion of the second period, tying the game less than one minute in as Witala picked off a pass in the Everett zone and quickly wristed it in for his second of the game. Everett rebounded nicely as the period progressed however, turning the tide and then re-taking the lead off the rush. Carson Stadnyk got the puck from Manraj Hayer and cut toward the net from the right wing, selling the pass before shooting the puck off Edmonds' shoulder and in at 14:42. The 'Tips nearly took that lead into the locker room, but a Prince George faceoff win in the Everett zone set up Zach Pochiro's goal that tied the game again with 17 seconds left in the period.

Shots in the third period were 12-6 in the Cougars' favor, but neither team could break the deadlock as overtime loomed for the second straight night. This time the game ended in the extra session however, as Morrison one-timed Troy Bourke's quick centering pass from behind the net past Cotton to give the home side a 4-3 victory.

Cougars' netminder Ty Edmonds (5-1-0-1) stopped 26 shots in goal to earn the win. Prince George finished 1 for 3 on the mad-advantage for the night, while Everett did not received a powerplay chance in the contest.

With their first long road trip of the season now in the rearview mirror, the Silvertips will head back to Everett before traveling to eastern Washington for a divisional bout with the Spokane Chiefs Friday night at 7:05 pm. Pregame radio coverage begins at 6:30 pm on Classic Country 1520 KXA. The 'Tips will then return to Comcast Arena for two straight home games on Saturday against Kamloops and Sunday vs. Swift Current.
