Pride Defenseman Recalled to Cleveland

December 5, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride today announced that defenseman Ryan Knox has been recalled to the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League. Knox is the second Pride player to be called up to the AHL in less than a week. Last Thursday, Matt Reid was called up to the Portland Pirates and played two games before being reassigned.

Knox is in his second professional season and his first with the Pride. Last year, the 23-year-old split his rookie campaign between the Mobile Mysticks of the ECHL and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. This year, in 20 games he has three goals and eight assists for 11 points, and has posted a plus-nine rating, the best among all Pride defensemen.

Cleveland is in third place in the AHL's Central Division with a 9-11-2-1 record for 21 points. Knox will depart for Cleveland this morning and be available for the Barons' three games this weekend, all against Hamilton. The Barons host the Bulldogs on Friday and Sunday, and travel to Hamilton on Saturday.

The Pride play three games in three days this weekend, hosting Columbia at 7:30 on Friday and Charlotte at 2:30 on Sunday, while traveling to Augusta for a Saturday match-up. Fans can receive discounted tickets for both of the Pride's home games this weekend. Anyone presenting a James Bond ticket stub from the Swamp Fox Cinemas at the Civic Center Box Office will receive two dollars off a 400-level ticket. Following Sunday's home game, season ticket holders will be able to get autographs from the Pride players at a special autograph session.
