IceGators' Richardson Named Sher-Wood Player Of The Month
December 5, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - Bruce Richardson of the Louisiana IceGators is the Sher-Wood East Coast Hockey League Player of the Month for November.
The 5-9 and 175-pound Richardson scored 11 goals - four power-play goals, two shorthand goals and one game-winning goal - and had 22 points in 13 games, helping Louisiana go 7-3-3 to move back into first place in the Southwest Division. Richardson, who was +9 for the month, is on a six-game scoring streak in which he has 15 points (8g-7a) and he scored a point in 12 of the 13 games in which he played in November.
He scored four goals and had an assist in Louisiana's 7-3 win over Columbus on November 23. Richardson, who had scored two goals twice in his career but never a hat trick, had two power-play goals, a shorthand goal and an even-strength goal. He scored two goals and had an assist against Columbus on November 24, ending a week in which he scored 10 points (6g-4a) earning ECHL Player of the Week honors.
Richardson became the third player in Louisiana history to score six goals in two games, joining Jay Murphy, who accomplished the feat with back-to-back hat tricks in 2000, and Bob Berg, who scored a team record five goals against Mobile on December 6, 1995. He had a goal and an assist in the IceGators 6-3 win over Pensacola on November 28, finishing one goal shy of Murphy's record of eight goals in three games set March 12-18, 2000. Richardson closed out the month with a goal in Louisiana's 3-0 win over Mississippi on November 30.
The 25-year-old Richardson leads Louisiana with 11 goals and two shorthand goals while he is tied for the team lead with four power-play goals and ranks second on the team in scoring with 22 points and plus-minus with +9.
