
Power Toppled by Lexington 8-1

(Charleston, W.V. - August 31, 2015) - The West Virginia Power fell to the Lexington Legends 8-1 on Monday night at Appalachian Power Park. It was the first loss for the Power against the Legends at home since April 26 in game one of a doubleheader.
West Virginia starting pitcher Stephen Tarpley surrendered two unearned runs in the first inning. The Power committed two errors in the inning. The first allowed Luis Valenzuena to reach and he later scored on a passed ball. Wander Franco scored the only other run after an error by Power left fielder Jerrick Suiter.
The Legends added two more in the seventh inning off the Power bullpen to take a 4-0 lead. A leadoff homer by Luis Villegas made it 4-0 and Wander Franco added an RBI single later in the inning allowing DonAndre Clark to score.
The Power scored its first run of the night in the bottom of the seventh. After Michael Suchy led off the inning on a four-pitch walk, he scored two batters later on a groundout by Elvis Escobar.
Lexington scored two more in the eighth inning off Edgar Santana. Following a leadoff single by Anderson Miller, Chase Vallot hit a two-run home run to left to make it a 6-1 game.
In the ninth, the Legends added two more runs off Power reliever Nick Neumann on an RBI single by Vallot and a sac fly from Samir Duenez.
Tarpley (11-4) took the tough-luck loss with six innings three-hit ball. Lexington starter Scott Blewett (3-5) earned the victory with four strikeouts over seven innings of work.
West Virginia (44-19, 81-51) continues the final homestand with game four against Lexington (24-37, 55-76) on Tuesday night. RHP Yeudy Garcia (12-5, 2.11) will take the hill for the Power opposite LHP Foster Griffin (3-6, 5.62). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. while pregame on Charleston's ESPN Radio 104.5 FM and 1490, the Power website, and the TuneIn Radio App is slated for 6:45 p.m.
Tuesday game is the last Tailgate Tuesday presented by Tailgate 107.3 of the 2015 regular season. Fans can enjoy $2 16 oz. drafts all night long plus $1 pretzels for happy hour from 6 p.m. until first pitch.
