Power Short Circuit Hagerstown 4-3 on Sunday

The West Virginia Power beat the Hagerstown Suns 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park on an Elevy's Gonzalez walk-off home run in the tenth inning. The Power trailed 3-1 after six innings, but tied the game in the seventh and won it on Gonzalez's second walk off home run of the season.

The Suns took a 1-0 lead off of Eliecer Navarro in the second inning on a solo home run by Mills Rogers and added a run in the fourth on a solo shot from Brett Newsome.

West Virginia halves the deficit in the home half of the fourth when Hagerstown start Graham Hicks walked three straight and Ramon Cabrera doubled in a run.

In the sixth inning, the Suns plated a run when Newsome walked and scored on a double off the left field wall by Michael Taylor for a 3-1 edge.

The Power tied the game in the seventh inning against Suns reliever Luis Garcia. Cabrera led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a two base hit by Rogelio Noris. Andy Vasquez followed with his second triple in as many games, scoring both baserunners and evening the score at three all.

Both teams went down in order in the eighth inning, and each had a runner on base in the ninth as well but could not generate the winning run.

Gonzalez led of the tenth inning by driving the only pitch Kyle Morrison threw off the top of the right field wall for a walk-off home run.

Jhonathan Ramos (1-1) gained the win with two scoreless innings of relief, while Morrison (3-6) was charged with the loss. Cabrera and Noris had two-hit games for the Power, while three different players had two hits each for the Suns.

West Virginia and Hagerstown conclude the 2010 season on Monday afternoon at 1:05 pm at Appalachian Power Park.
