September 5, 2010 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Hagerstown Suns News Release

The Hagerstown Suns (29-39, 65-73) fell to the West Virginia Power (32-35, 63-74) in 10 innings during Sunday afternoon's Game 3 at Appalachian Power Park as Elevys Gonzalez blasted a walk-off home run over the right center field wall to give the Power a 4-3 victory.

The Suns grabbed the first lead of the game when 2B Mills Rogers sent the first pitch of the second inning over the left field fence. The line drive four-bagger was Rogers' second of the season.

Hagerstown bats would add another run in the top of the fourth frame as 1B Brett Newsome pulled his second looping long ball of the campaign over the right center field barrier.

West Virginia answered with their first run of the game in the last of the fourth when C Ramon Cabrera ripped a ground-rule double to left center scoring 1B Aaron Baker, who walked. The Suns caught a break when the ball skipped off the warning track and over the wall holding DH Jose Hernandez up at third base. Hernandez would be left on base in scoring position.

Suns LHP Graham Hicks, who did not factor into the decision, left with the lead and tossed 6.0 stanzas, giving up one earned run on two hits, while walking four and fanning five.

The Suns got an insurance run courtesy of 1B Michael Taylor's first RBI since his promotion. Taylor made a bid for a home run to left but as the ball ricocheted off the yellow line at the top of the barrier per park ground rules he was awarded a double. Newsome, who drew a base-on-balls came in to score giving Hagerstown a 3-1 lead.

Power LHP Eliecer Navarro, also hit with a no decision, went 5.2 frames and surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

After stretch time, the Power tied the contest as 3B Andy Vasquez laced a two RBI triple for the second consecutive night, bringing home Cabrera and LF Rogelios Noris. Vasquez overslid third base and was tagged out by Justino Cuevas. Vasquez was injured on the play and would leave the game.

West Virginia LHP Jhonathan Ramos (1-1), the winning pitcher of record, would throw 2.0 scoreless innings en route to the victory.

In the last of the tenth inning, the Suns summoned RHP Kyle Morrison (3-6) to the mound and the reliever allowed the solo walk-off shot to Gonzalez that caromed off a promotional sign over the home run line in right center to power the hometown West Virginia club to a triumph.
