(Salisbury, MD- July 9, 2014)- The West Virginia Power dropped the series finale to the Delmarva Shorebirds 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. West Virginia scored twice in the first two innings, but could not muster any more offense in the series loss to the Shorebirds.

West Virginia jumped on the board first when a wild pitch plated Chris Diaz in the first inning. In the bottom half, Delmarva answered with a Chance Sisco RBI single.

The Power took the lead back in the second when Francisco Diaz doubled home Kawika Emsley-Pai. The lead was short lived again as Delmarva responded on a Josh Hart RBI base knock.

In the fourth, Anthony Caronia singled home a run that would be the difference in the game.

Justin Topa (3-6) was charged with the loss while Luis Gonzalez (4-0) earned the win. JaCoby Jones, the reigning South Atlantic League Player of the Week, extended his hit streak to 11 games.

West Virginia hosts the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Thursday, July 10, at Appalachian Power Park. Cody Dickson will start against the Grasshoppers Ryan Newell. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-BATS or visit www.wvpower.com.
