Gnats Stung Again, Fall 7-1 to Jackets

Savannah, Ga.- On Tuesday, the GreenJackets' snapped the Gnats' 11-game winning streak. On Wednesday, Augusta started one of their own, winning their second straight game with a 7-1 decision over Savannah.

The GreenJackets (10-11/44-45) grabbed control with two home runs in a three-run second. Rightfielder Tyler Horan got the scoring started with a homerun to the scoreboard in right-center and then two batters later DH Eric Sim yanked one out to left for a 3-0 lead.

Augusta added single runs in the third and sixth against Savannah starter Logan Taylor. Taylor was making his first start for the Gnats after three rehab appearances in the Gulf Coast League since his Tommy John surgery last July 23rd . He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing five runs, four earned on four walks and six strikeouts.

The Gnats (15-6/59-28) scored their only run in the third on an RBI groundout by shortstop Yeixon Ruiz.

Savannah DH Matt Oberste extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games with an eighth inning single into centerfield.

The Gnats will send RHP Ricky Knapp (3-5, 4.28) to the mound Thursday night when they begin a four-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs.
