Sand Gnats to Host Forrest Gump Night on Saturday

Savannah, Ga.- The Savannah Sand Gnats will celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the film Forrest Gump by hosting Forrest Gump Night at Historic Grayson Stadium this Saturday, July 12, brought to you by Old Savannah Tours.
There will be loads of Gump-themed promotions including a "Life is Like a Box of Chocolates" Giveaway to first 500 fans in attendance. One random box will contain the famous feather which can be exchanged for a free ticket to every one of the Sand Gnats' remaining 2014 regular season games.
The Forrest Gump character will also take photos with fans for a limited amount of time when gates open at 5:00 p.m.
After the Gnats take on the rival Charleston RiverDogs with a first pitch of 6:05 p.m., fans can stay after the game for a spectacular fireworks show just like Jenny and Forrest.
"Forrest Gump is an iconic film that I watch at least once a year," said Sand Gnats team president John Katz. "It's the 20th anniversary of the film's release, so we decided to celebrate its "birthday" at the ballpark."
Many scenes from Forrest Gump were filmed right here in Savannah including the iconic "Bench Scene" filmed at Chippewa Square. The movie was a smash at the box office in 1994, as both a love story and a biopic of the American 1950s, '60s, and '70s.
