Asheville Tourists News Release
Asheville, NC--Jose Briceno homered in his third straight game and Ashley Graeter also left the yard in the Asheville Tourists 6-3 victory over the Rome Braves on Tuesday night. The start of the game was delayed over an hour due to rain in the area but once the two teams took the field, the Tourists went to work again.
Johendi Jiminian notched his tenth win of the season by battling through five innings. Jiminian surrendered a two-out RBI single to Victor Reyes in the top of the first that put the visitors in front 1-0. It was the only lead the Braves would hold all night.
Asheville took control in the second. Graeter tied the game with an RBI groundout and Briceno followed with a towering blast to left field. The two-run shot put the Tourists in the lead 3-1.
Max White then doubled and scored on David Dahl's single to shallow centerfield.
Rome responded with a pair of runs in the third. Victor Caratini connected with an RBI double to left and again Reyes came through with a two-out RBI single. Jiminian settled down and kept the Tourists ahead through the first five innings.
In the top of the sixth, Matt Carasiti worked a perfect inning allowing Asheville to add to their lead in the bottom half. Ryan McMahon drove in Correlle Prime with a sacrifice fly and Graeter made it 6-3 with a solo blast to left-centerfield.
After Carasiti spun a scoreless seventh, Carlos Estevez came in and had no trouble working around a leadoff walk in the eighth. The Tourists called on Trent Daniel for the ninth and the lefty recorded his ninth save of the season. Daniel struck out Carlos Franco with the bases loaded to end the game.
The Tourists will attempt to sweep the Braves with the series finale scheduled for 7:05pm Wednesday night.
