SUNDAY: West Virginia rallied to beat Lakewood 5-4 on a walk-off double by Bengie Gonzalez in the ninth. The BlueClaws broke up a tie game with a two run eighth and tacked on another run in the ninth to take a 4-1 edge into the last half inning. With two outs, Jose Hernandez and Ramon Cabrera singled. After Rogelio Noris walked, Elevys Gonzalez singled in a pair. Bengie Gonzalez followed with a double off the right field wall to bring home the tying and winning runs. Maurice Bankston pitched the ninth and earned his sixth win.

ALMOST EVEN: West Virginia heads into play tonight with a chance to even out its home record at 28-28. The Power have not had a .500 record at Appalachian Power Park since May 24 after a win against Lexington. West Virginia has only had a home record above .500 at two points in time this season: April 17 when they were 2-0 and May 25 at 11-10.

JOSE AT HOME HERE: Jose Hernandez leads the Power with a .290 home average. The outfielder has appeared in 41 games at Appalachian Power Park this season and has 42 hits in 145 at bats with six of his ten home runs and 19 of his 41 runs batted in here. Only Rogelio Noris has hit more home runs in Charleston this season (8) while four different players have driven in more runs (although Noris, Aaron Baker, Evan Chambers, and Jesus Brito have also appeared in more games at home).

WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers walked twice Saturday to bring his league leading total to 86. Chambers is in third place across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (92) and Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (88). Allan Dykstra led all of Minor League baseball last year with 104 walks in 125 games played.

BACKSTOP TOPS LIST: Ramon Cabrera leads all South Atlantic League catchers with a .992 fielding percentage. Of catchers who have caught at least 50 games this season, the Power backstop is tied for the fewest number of errors (5) and is tied for the third fewest passed balls (10).

JUST UNDER IN JULY: The Power finished July with a 14-15 record, roughly in the middle of the SAL pack for the month. Charleston and Lakewood held the league's best record at 18-12, while Hagerstown had the lowest winning percentage with a 10-18 mark. West Virginia hit .259 during the month, their best average in any month this season and their 23 home runs were second only to their June totals. The Power staff ERA was 4.67; slightly more than on run higher than May's season best 3.65 earned run average, but still slightly over a full run less than June's 5.65 ERA.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia hitters rank fourth in the SAL in walks, having combined for 369 this season, ten behind league leaders Lexington and Greenville... Jose Hernandez went hitless on Saturday and saw his five-game hitting streak snapped...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 8-4 to Colorado... Indianapolis fell 2-0 at Durham... Altoona dropped a 9-6 final at Harrisburg when the Senators scored four in the eighth... Bradenton did not play... State College lost 4-1 at home to Tri-City.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com. Adam Marco will call the action for each of the 70 home games this season, while the home team will provide coverage while the Power are on the road.
