The first out of the seventh inning was recorded when a Power player tried to advance from first to third on a base hit but was gunned down.
IRWIN AND THE ERA: Phillip Irwin falls just short of the required number of innings pitched to qualify for the SAL's earned run average leaders. Pitchers must appeared in 0.8 innings pitched per team game. After tonight's game, the requirement would be 87 innings. Irwin sits at 79.0 entering play tonight, meaning he would need to pitch eight innings to qualify on this turn through the rotation Game one is slated for seven innings.

West Virginia hit .259 during the month, their best average in any month this season and their 23 home runs were second only to their June totals.
