LATE RALLY NOT ENOUGH: West Virginia lost 4-3 to Lexington on Friday night. The Power held a 1-0 lead after one inning when Evan Chambers scored on a ground out. The Legends captured the lead in the fifth inning on a home run by Jose Altuve; a three-run shot against Kyle McPherson. Jacob Goebbert added a solo home run in the sixth to build a 4-1 Lexington lead. West Virginia plated two in the eighth and had the tying run aboard in the ninth when Kirk Clark struck out Chambers to end the game. Aaron Baker drove in all three Power runs.
LOOK OUT: Evan Chambers and Aaron Baker both take hitting streak into their next games. Chambers has hit in his last eight straight, going 12 for 36 (.333) with a home run, four runs batted in, and nine runs scored. He has also scored at least one run in six straight games. Baker is batting .409 during his six game streak with nine hits in 22 at bats. The first baseman has hit two home runs and driven in ten.
K-MAN: Kyle McPherson struck out 11 batters over five and two-thirds on Friday, setting a new single game high by any Power pitcher this season. The right-hander owned the previous high by striking out 10 Shorebirds in a May 19 win over Delmarva. McPherson has 94 strikeouts this season, second most in the SAL.
POWER V LEGENDS: West Virginia has played Lexington more than any other team dating back to the 2005 season. The Power lead the all-time series 57-54, but trail 26-30 at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia does, however, have the edge at Applebee's Park in Lexington, winning 31 of 55 games. The 2009 series was split at six wins and six losses .
FREE RIDE: West Virginia batters walked 11 times on Thursday night, surpassing their season-high from any one game. The previous season-high was set on Wednesday when Power players walked nine times in the series finale win at Hagerstown. One of the walks Thursday was intentional; the very last one that loaded the bases with no one out in the tenth, and eight of the nine players in the lineup walked at least once.
WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers has walked 67 times this year to lead the South Atlantic League. Chambers ranks third across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (75) and Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (73). The Lakeland, Florida native has walked in 52 of the 80 games he has played in this season (65%).

Justin Bass of Greensboro leads the league in long balls and has the best ratio (1/16.33 AB)... Power batters reached on five doubles Thursday, setting a new single game high in two-base hits... West Virginia left 13 men on base Thursday, matching their single game high this year. The Power also left 13 on in an 8-1 win at Kannapolis on April 26... Power pitchers have walked 212 batters this season, second fewest in the league behind Hickory (200).
