ROME, Ga. - A two-run third inning turned out to be enough for Charleston, as the RiverDogs defeated the Rome Braves, 3-1, in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium Saturday night.

With the victory, the RiverDogs end a 10-game losing streak at Rome in improving to 7-10, 38-48 overall, while the Braves fall to 9-8, 39-4 overall.

Kelvin Castro doubled off Brett DeVall to start the third inning, moved to third on DeAngelo Mack's single, and then both came plateward on J.R. Murphy's two-run double to stake the RiverDogs to a 2-1 lead.

Hector Rabago increased that margin to 3-1 with a bloop RBI single in the sixth inning.

Gabriel Tatis (2-2) and Ryan Flannery combined to blank the Braves over the last 4.1 innings. Tatis worked 1.1 innings, while Fannery fanned six batters over 3.0 scoreless to notch his career-best 10th save of the campaign.

Christian Bethancourt's second inning RBI single against Charleston's Mike Solbach gave Rome a 1-0 advantage.

Solbach tossed 4.2 innings for the RiverDogs in a no-decision, allowing just one run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts. DeVall (4-6) hummed 6.0 innings for Rome in the loss, giving up three runs on nine hits, while walking none and sinking five.

Castro stroked a pair of doubles for Charleston, while Hector Rabago went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Game four of this series, set for a 2 p.m. start time on Sunday, features Charleston right-hander Brett Marshall (1-0, 3.48 ERA) facing Rome right-hander Caleb Brewer (2-1, 3.58 ERA).
