Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - Austin Czarnik scored two goals to force over time, but ultimately the Pirates walked away with two points.

Ex P-Bruin Rob Flick put the Pirates on the board 6:45 into the first period. Wade Megan made the initial shot, and Flick stuffed in the rebound. Troy Turgeon was also credited with an assist.

Czarnik responded early in the second to tie the game at 1-1. Brandon DeFazio sent a cross-ice break out pass to Czarnik, who continued on a breakaway and deked around McKenna to light the lamp.

Portland took back the lead 13:28 into the period when Rob Schremp released a huge shot that found its way past Subban, assisted by Weever and Rau on the power play.

Czarnik once again tied the game, this time 12:55 into the third period. Czarnik's goal, assisted by Ben Youds and Linus Arnesson, forced the 3v3 overtime. This was the third time these two teams have taken play into overtime this season.

The P-Bruins looked strong overall during the overtime period, but Schremp beat Malcolm Subban with a slap shot from the left point with one tenth of a second remaining on the clock. This marked Schremp's 11th goal of the season.

Providence's point streak remains alive, but the win streak ends at 5.

The P-Bruins are back home Sunday December 13th against the Hartford Wolf Pack for the second time in three days.
