Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that Jay Leach will serve as interim head coach starting with tonight's game against the Albany Devils.

Leach takes over head coaching duties from Mike Sullivan, who was named head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier today.

Leach is in his first year as a coach in North America after one season with Alder Mannheim (Germany), helping the team to a Deutsche Eishockey Liga championship.

For tonight's game, Leach will be joined on the bench by Pittsburgh Penguins player development coach, Mark Recchi.

Sullivan is the third head coach in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton history to be promoted to head coach in Pittsburgh. The first two were Michel Therrien (2005) and Dan Bylsma (2009).

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's general manager, Jason Botterill, will speak to the media this evening at 6:00 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
