B-Sens Comeback Comes up Short

HERSHEY, P.A. - The Binghamton Senators fell 5-3 to the Hershey Bears in their first of eight meetings this year. Ryan Dzingel picked up three assists to add to his team lead in points (6+15=21).

Riley Barber opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the year at the 2:19 mark of the first period followed by Connor Carrick getting his seventh goal at 11:47. Sean Collins pushed the score to 3-0 with a power-play goal less than minute later before Chandler Stephenson score his second goal of the year with 35 seconds remaining in the opening frame. The B-Sens went to the locker room trailing 4-0 and being outshot 16-13.

Colin Greening put the B-Sens on the board at the halfway point of the middle frame with his fifth goal of the year. After fighting through two Hershey defenders, Greening let a shot rip from the left faceoff circle that made it past Justin Peters to move the score to 4-1. Eric O'Dell cut the hosts' lead in half with his first goal since coming back from illness almost six minutes later. Binghamton went into the final intermission trailing by two goals despite outshooting Hershey 14-6 in the second period.

The Binghamton Senators brought it to a one-goal game in the third period after Buddy Robinson scored his third goal of the season off assists from Fredrik Claesson and Dzingel with less than five minutes remaining. Chris Bourque secured the win for the Bears after putting home an empty net goal at the 19:44 mark of the third to push the final score to 5-3.

Andrew Hammond stopped 27 shots in the losing effort while Peters had 29 saves for the win.
