The Portland Sea Dogs hit a season high four home runs, two by Jeremy West, blasting the Connecticut Defenders, 9-0 in game two of a four-game set. Portland also received long balls by Chad Spann and Chris Durbin.

Kason Gabbard (9-2) won his fifth straight start and picked up his league leading, ninth win of the season. Gabbard yielded only two hits, walked two and fanned five. The Royal Palm Beach, Florida native leads Red Sox Minor League pitchers in wins.

Pat Misch (5-4), who entered the game with a 1.94 ERA (5th in the Eastern League), surrended six runs and seven hits over five innings.

Durbin hit a solo blast over the Maine Monster with one out in the second inning off Misch. In the fourth inning, West led off the frame with a solo-shot over the Dunkin Donuts Message Center in left-center field. With two outs in the fifth inning, Brandon Moss drew a walk and Spann followed with a three-run homer off the Citgo sign. Misch then surrendered his fourth long ball when West just cleared the 37 foot-high wall in left field. The back-to-back homers were the first for the Sea Dogs this season.

Connecticut's hits came with two outs; Brian Buscher doubled in the third inning and Brian Horwitz singled in the sixth inning.

Gabbard improved to 4-0 against the Connecticut Defenders in four starts. The lefty hasn't allowed an earned run in 23 innings pitched against the Giants affilite.

Notes...Bryan Pritz made his Double-A debut and went 0-for-4, leading off and playing center field...David Bacani finished with two hits...Chad Spann's home run snapped an 0-for-12 slump...Dusty Brown had two hits, making his fourth start at Designated Hitter.
