Portland Sea Dogs and HRH team up for a great cause

Portland, Maine- Hadlock Field and members of the first place Portland Sea Dogs were the backdrop as HRH Northern New England and the Sea Dogs re-affirmed their commitment to give back to the community. Dennis Lundgren, President of HRH Northern New England outlined two fundraising initiatives with the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, "HRH polled over 3-thousand employees nationwide for the purpose of choosing a charity to support. Habitat for Humanity won hands down."

Through "Hits for Habitat", HRH Northern New England will donate one dollar to Habitat for Humanity for each Sea Dogs hit this season, up to a maximum of $1000. To date the Sea Dogs have 539 hits.

HRH Northern New England has also pitched in by giving Habitat access to parking spaces to rent out during home Sea Dogs games. Through June 15th, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland has raised $2,600. According to Lundgren, "We expect to raise $8,000 by the end of the season".

Stephen Bolton, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, says these types of partnerships HRH are important. "Companies have resources that when put together can make communities better and make a difference. " Bolton went on the praise the efforts of HRH and their employees "they have invested lots and lots of time and effort, certainly a great group of volunteers."

HRH Northern New England and the Sea Dogs also wish to recognize individuals and business for their commitment to the community through "Home Run Heroes". HRH purchased six reserve seats for every home Sea Dogs game. Each of the "Home Run Heroes" will receive six reserved seats to an upcoming Portland Sea Dogs game and recognition over the PA system and the video board during the game.
